MKA USA Response to the Oklahoma Tragedy

The leaders and membership of Majlis-Khuddamul Ahmadiyya USA, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organization, maintain solidarity with the people of Oklahoma and Texas. We too acknowledge the pain of families in Moore and Newcastle Oklahoma as well as all the areas affected. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and we are supportive of them in their long journey to recovery. As believing youth, we recognize that there are many questions that come up when loss of life, property and peace of mind occur. In spite of these challenges as brothers, friends and neighbors, we support the devastated communities that are affected. We pray for their recovery and their overcoming of all challenges. We all belong to God, and should He call us back may He give strength to the loved ones we leave behind. As a youth auxiliary pledging service to our nation and countrymen, we are merging with Humanity First in providing volunteers to affected families.

The Portland Jamaat honored their mosque's 25-year anniversary with a wonderful interfaith event. Portland Rizwan mosque is the first Mosque to be built in Portland, and one of the first mosques in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.  The Jamaat will commemorate 25 years of working with other people and organizations with a Tabligh event.  10 guest speakers from Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and non-Ahmadi Muslim communities, as well as from academia and the political spectrum (city commissioner and U.S. Congressman) were present at the event.

Alhamdolillah, this was a very blessed and successful event. I thank Allah Ta'ala for His Grace and for bringing many guests to fill the Mosque on this wonderful occasion. There was an interfaith panel of 12 leaders who all spoke about their relationship with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community here in Portland, and it was a very touching tribute. I was honored to speak at the end of the event on behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to express our gratitude and to take a look forward. The local CBS news affiliate also came and covered the event.
