The Regional MASQ conference was held in Houston on January 12, 2013. This conference was led by MASQ Chairman, Qasim Rashid Sb. A total of 33 khuddam attended from different regions. The conference focused on emphasizing the impact of writing and using social media as a way to publicize the true image of Islam. Usama Awan, member of the MASQ team, gave a presentation in which he mentioned the historic story of Hadhrat Talha (RA) sacrificing his hand to protect Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He explained that all we need is a hand to write with and the love of Holy Prophet to defend Islam. Chairman Sb. conducted a Google search activity which illustrated how negatively the society thinks about Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Islam, Ahmadiyyat and Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS). In order to change this image, Chairman Sb urged everyone to write to newspaper editors about different issues which will help remove such negativity attached to the topics listed above. During the conference, Khuddam learned about different techniques to convey their message clearly, briefly and eloquently. All khuddam were encouraged to participate in writing a letter to the editor on the topics of "Gun Control" and "Inauguration of President Obama". Khuddam were divided into two groups with 10 people each and they were requested to write about one of the topics. Chairman Sb, Usama Bh and Yameen Bh helped each khadim individually by providing feedback and ideas. After feedback, about 20 Khuddam emailed their letters to various newspaper editors.
