Fact of the Day

Muslims accept the original unaltered Torah (the Gospel of Moses) and the original Bible (the Gospel of Jesus) since they were revealed by God. However, none of those original scriptures are in existence today, in their entirety. Therefore, Muslims follow the subsequent, final, and preserved revelation of God, the Holy Qur'an.
Oshkosh 01242013-1Interfaith is in our genetics and to do one in your community helps build good realtions with your other faith based neigbors. Oshkosh Khudaam helped to arrange and host an interfaith event at our Qamar Mosque in Oshkosh on January 24, 2013. It was a good relgious discourse and exchange of ideas about Christianity and Islam. The topic of discussion was, "how has my faith made a meaningful and positive impact on the world?" The Catholic priest Father Luke Ferris was the noted speaker for the Christian faith and Khurram Ahmad, the President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Oshkosh, represented Islam. There was a very interactive Q/A session shortly after both presentations. Questions ranged from "Why can't men and women shake hands?" to "Does Islam support death for apostasy?"

The Local area newspaper Oshkosh Northwestern covered the whole event and you can go view the picture gallery for it (View Gallery Here). All in all, the event was enjoyed by the audience members who attended the event. They were astonished by the solidarity and respect that was portrayed by the two faiths. Islamic literature (books and pamplets) were distributed to all those who attended. A registry was created to take all the names and contact information of the attendees so that they can be invitied to future interfaith events. It ended with dinner.
