Fact of the Day

Most Arab Jews and Arab Christians refer to God as "Allah". And the word Allah in Arabic appears on the walls of many Arab churches.
1Houston North, Cypress, and South hosted a three-day Tarbiyyat camp from December 28-30, 2012. The Tarbiyyat camp had a combination of sports and tarbiyyat sesssions that kept the Khudaam and Atfal alike involved. The Tarbiyyat sessions were lead by Murabbi Mohammad Zafarullah Hanjra Sahib. Tarbiyyat can be defined in many ways but the following were the highlights from this one. A Quranic recitation was led by Brother Abdul Lateef in which Khudaam and Atfal were taught the correct pronounciation of the Holy Quran. A dose of basic education was given by Murabbi Sahib that focused on memorizing the Janaza prayer, and there were further explanations on key religious concepts and Islamic history. He even lead a detailed session on the event of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h)'s Meraj (spiritual ascension) and what all of us can deduce from it. Qaid Cypress, Brother Zubair, showed an informative video on the life of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). There were additional Tarbiyyat sessions lead by Murabbi Sahib about "children's responsibility to their elders and their parents" and "etiquette of the Mosque."

An interesting Umoomi session was conducted by Brother Jareeullah and Brother Alamzeb, in which they showed how to respond in case of an emergency at the mosque. Brother Tariq, Khalid, and Ehsan held Tarbiyyat sessions for Khudaam and Atfal, where they elucidated the importance of good habits, and what it means to be an Ahmadi. Don't worry, there were sports in the midst of all this, just like it was mentioned in the beginning. Two sports sessions were held where Khudaam played basketball and football. Tarbiyyat is a wide ranging area and it requires a well rounded approach. Brothers Bilal and Waleed gave an informative session on science and engineering majors, and the benefits of choosing them. In this particular session Khudaam were encouraged to ask questions about college life, thus making it very interactive. Dr. Amir Malik and Dr. Nasir Tanauli conducted sessions related to medical examinations of drug abuse cases and lessons gained from them. The Khudaam learned about the dire consequences of ignoring safety precautions in either cases. All-in-all a total of 20 Khudaam and 10 Atfal participated this camp which spanned over two nights at the Mosque Baitus Samee. Fajr and Tahujjud prayers were offered regularly including January 1, 2013.
