Date of Event: Thursday, December 31, 2009        Attendance: around 20 children

Assalamo Alaikum Wa Rehmatullahe Wa Barakatohu

During the New Year’s Eve sleepover our Atfal had a wonderful time. Naib Nazimeen Atfal (Harris Nisar and Sajeel Latif) did a spectacular job taking charge.

Most of the Atfal arrived by Maghrib and Ishaa prayer.  Following Salat and dinner, many of the children started to play games.  Atfal played dodge ball in the open hall, while others played table tennis.  There were around 20 children present at this event.

Before the clock struck midnight, many of the parents and our Murrabi Atfal, Mir Naser Sahib, sat down with all of the Atfal and had a nice discussion on various topics.  The Atfal were taught the importance of celebrating New Year’s Day at the mosque instead of at parties.  Many of the older children were also warned about social situations that they may encounter.

The New Year’s finally began at midnight and some were exhausted, while others were awake and hugging and congratulating each other for the arrival of the new year.

The following day began with Tahajjud prayer and Fajr prayer.  Following Salat, Atfal recited the Holy Qur’an and were taught the importance of Quranic recitation and the great rewards that can be reaped by making this a daily exercise.  Following this, some children went back to sleep while others had the stamina to play more games.  The event concluded with a delicious breakfast prepared by parents, following by Zuhr and Asr prayers.

By the grace of Allah, many of the children had an excellent time learning, playing, and enjoying the New Year’s Eve sleepover.  Overall, it was a wonderful and memorable experience for all.
Please remember the organizers in your prayers.
