A Story by a Tifl: My mom’s friend came to pick me and my brother up from our house to go to masjid. We quickly packed our stuff in and were on our way. On my way there I was so excited that I could feel the blood roar in my ears. We got there in a few moments. As I stepped into the building I noticed that there was no one there except for me, my brother and our friend Usama. Then Qamar uncle, our Nazim Atfal, told us to go to the next room behind the one we entered from to put our stuff down. After we had done that Usama took out his football and we had a joyful game. Before long more kids started pouring in. Soon enough there were about twelve of us. After a few moments, Qamar uncle called us back to the first room for a meeting. At the meeting Qamar uncle told us the ground rules and that there will be a competition to make it more interesting. There were going to be groups based on age and you will be competing within that group. He also told us that in order to win they will see who has the most points from that group. You had to show good manners, punctuality and respect to earn the points. Then they will pick an over all winner. And they had also organized the Atfal in sections as to who will set up the food at dinner and clean up and who will set it up during breakfast the next day and who will pick up. After the meeting we got to socialize. We talked and played more football. Later, the other Atfal and I were called in for a trivia competition. This team we were separated into teams randomly. The rest of the day just flew by. At last it was time to go to sleep. The next day I woke up refreshed and ready for the day. First we all prayed Fajar prayer. Next we had a fun game of basketball. Later we had breakfast. At last at around 9:00 – 10:00 we played carom board and a building game called Jenga. Later on that day we were given the choice to watch a children’s movie or socialize. Majority picked socializing so we went off to the other room to socialize while the rest watched the movie. At last the time had come to present the awards to the teams! We were all congratulated for participating in the first sleepover at the masjid. That afternoon we all had to pack our stuff and go home. I had the best time imaginable!
In conclusion, I had a spectacular time at the sleep over. I learned a lot, met new friends, and had a marvelous Nazim. I hope they hold one very soon so I can go again. |
