| New Years DC Atfal Sleepover |
 Majlis Atfaal Ul Ahmadiya Washington DC New Year Sleepover 2009The second annual Atfal sleepover took place on Dec. 31st 2009 at Fazal mosque in Washington DC. The Atfal and parents arrived on a wet soggy night and were greeted by Mian Ismaeel Waseem Sahib (Local Sadr), Khalid Mahmood (General Secretary and former Mohtamim Atfal) and Zahid Yousaf (Nazim Atfal). Faizan Tariq, a local Tifl, performed the Adhan and Namaz Isha was lead by Sadr Sahib. Farzan Ahmad started the evening program with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an. Following the Atfal pledge, Sadr Sahib provided opening remarked and thanked all members for attending. We had pizza for dinner and brownies and halwa for dessert The young Atfal enjoyed Sadr Sahib’s company as he played games and showed them tricks he learned from childhood. He was thanked for her services. Nazim Sahib then delivered a Dars on Surah Fatiha. Nazim Atfal Sahib then shared the Majlis Atfal ul Ahmadiyya website with the Atfal. Atfal then played different games and shared stories with each other. The evening concluded with prayers. Imam Zaki Kauser lead Tahajud the following morning. Usama Ahmad delivered the Adhan. Following Fajr prayers, Imam Sahib addressed the Atfal with a nice sermon on new year’s resolutions. He provided commentary on Surah Al Fatiha, explaining how the first half of this Surah is for thanking Allah for all the things He provides, and the second half is for seeking God’s help for all the things we are unable to do ourselves. All Atfal who attended the sleepover received certificates (and chocolate candy bars).
