How to organize a blood drive on campus.

 

GUIDELINES ON HOW TO ORGANIZE BLOOD DRIVE ON CAMPUS

1.  Start by making a phone call to one of the Regional Blood Centers in your area. Introduce yourself as a representative of the youth wing of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at, USA, that is, Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya, USA. Now is the right time to let the region's representative knows your plan to organize a blood drive in a similar manner mkausa has staged such drives in campuses in variuos states in fulfiIment of our mission, vision and goals regarding promoting “peace” and love for “humanity” around the world.

2. Inform the region about the selected time, date and schedule that will be convenient for students/staff on campus and Jama'at members in your Majlis. Ensure that you do everrthing to get appropriate date by the Blood Center before you move to the next item.

3. It is always good to provide pledge cards and schedules available for donors to sign-up in advance of the drive. Alternatively, ensure that these materials will be provided by the Center on the exact to ensure adequate documentation.(see other location requirements below)


4.Ensure that posters showing date, time and location of the blood drive are available for display at all corners of the campus and at appropriate places in your area.

5. Other relevant information to be considered as organizers of a blood drive along with the advantages you need to promote on or before the drive date:

-Time involvement per donor is approximately 40 minutes.

- Other advantage of Screening:Free checking of blood pressure, pulse, temperature, hematocrit level and medical history.

-Actual donation time: Average 5 - 10 minutes.

- Total time: Approximately 30 minutes. All donors are provided with soft drinks and cookies.

Some location requirements to be considered includes:
Inside arrangements should be able to accommodates at least 4 - 6 donors in 30 minutes
20' by 24' room.
Two electrical outlets.
10 to 15b chairs and 2-3 tables.
Good air conditioning system.
Bloodmobile: Accommodates 5 donors every 30 minutes (if applicable).
