The Lone Star state now has a rising star growing within. This month’s rising star is Tahir Malik of Houston North Majlis. Tahir is a 14 year old 9th grader who fits the profile of most outstanding students. He maintains superb grades, has received many awards and has a bright future ahead of himself. Tahir wants to enter the field of medicine and is interested in possibly becoming a neurosurgeon. The aspect that separates Tahir apart from his peers is not his grades or coursework, yet it is his spirituality and personality. When asked on his future, Tahir explained why he was interested in Neurosciences, and that he would want to be a part of Humanity First, helping in any way he can. Despite just entering his teenage years and about to become a khadim, it seems that Tahir already is a khadim because of his maturity. When asked what advice he would give atfal, Tahir strongly spoke on the importance of placing Jamaat work above everything else. This is all coming from a teenager, new to high school, growing up in a materialistic culture yet still somehow is above everything that could potentially stop him. Yes, it seems that Tahir fits the profile of a rising star. He is active in his Majlis and serves as the Motamid for his local atfal Amila. Tahir mentioned that this Amila was newly formed, yet already began several initiatives to get all programs going and making atfal active. Tahir is committed in serving his Majlis and enjoys the opportunity as well. One other aspect that is striking about him is where his mindset is nowadays. He mentioned that all atfal should sketch out their futures and make plans for themselves - timely advice for people of all ages. Tahir is driven and his view on planning proves it. He enjoys playing basketball and when he’s not too busy, he enjoys a little more sleep as well. That is the life of an honors student who is more than just a student or ordinary tifl, he is a rising star. May Allah grant him successes in all future endeavors and make an impact as a Khadim as well, InshAllah.
