What if we told you that there was a way that you could demonstrate your knowledge and proficiency of the sciences and arts? Applying your education to the real-world while at the same time get recognized by individuals who are deeply involved in the academic world. Such an opportunity would be a science fair which would bring Ahmadi youths together to compete, learn and have fun! Majlis Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya has created such a program. This program is called the Professor Abdus Salam Science Fair in order to honor Professor Abdus Salam, the first Muslim and the only Pakistani Nobel Laureate. You can find more information about Prof. Salam at http://www.alislam.org/library/salam.html.
All older Atfal (ages 11-15) are asked to compete in a science fair that will be held at the annual Jalsa Salana, Inshallah! Dear Qaideen and Nazimeen Atfal, As you are aware the National Annual Jalsa Salana is less than 4 weeks away. For the last few years a special event has been taking place at the Jalsa just for the Atfal. The Annual Dr. Abdus Salam Science Fair has become a premier event for the Atfal at Jalsa Salana. It allows the Atfal to actively take part in the Jalsa. The best part about the Science Fair is, it allows all Atfal to participate nationally without having to go through a qualification round. In order to ensure a spot in the Science Fair for the Atfal in your majlis, please visit the Science Fair website at: http://www.mkausa.org/atfal/dr-salam-fair.html and download the response form. Please fill-out this response form and send it back to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it In an effort to assist you in picking a project that can easily be completed in the time available, a list of projects has been complied. For some of the projects, detailed instructions are also provided to aid in completing the project. Please understand that the aim of the Science Fair is to instill the love of science and education in the hearts of our youth. So with this aim in mind please know, no project is too simple as long as it allows the tifl to utilize and understand the scientific process. Please keep this general guideline in mind: while a project topic does not have to be original, all data should be. The tifl/atfal should collect their own data and not use preexisting data. Additionally, any Tifl who has completed a Science Fair project for school is encouraged to present his project at the Jalsa. In order to make participation easier for those Atfal who are coming from long distances, full display supplies will be made available. This includes the Tri-fold Display Poster Board, scissors, tape, and glue. Additional supplies can also be procured if the tifl informs the committee ahead of time. Those Atfal need only bring print-outs and they will be able to put their poster together at the Jalsa. To ensure that the atfal from your majlis have a spot in the Science Fair and to pick your topics first please send your response forms in as soon as possible.
