2007 National Ijtema - A Personal Experience PDF Print E-mail

Assalamo Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.
Dear Atfal & Khuddam,

Looking back 20 years ago from my first National Ijtema, I today reflect on how blessed the institution of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya really is. I believe there is nothing that matches the great programs MKA USA provides in helping all of us gain the love of Allah, the love for one another, and a drive to truly be the best amongst ourselves. It is with the experiences that I had as a tifil (and now as a khadim), and pride that I feel as a member of MKA, that I express my thoughts in the hopes that those who have yet to experience a National Ijtema will take that step this year, to join us for the Premiere Event of MKA USA.

From my years as a tifil I fondly remember the bonds made with my Ahmadi brothers from across the nation, and the great spirit of competition. Here I was in New York, competing at our Local Ijtema in the Speech Competition. I remember once after I delivered my speech, I came off the stage greeted with a “high-five” by (now Missionary) Respected Maulana Zaki Kauser. His impressive speech had me sitting in my chair sweating in anticipation of the competition results. There were times when I’d beat out my brothers to take 1st Place and move onto the Regional Ijtema, where my fellow NY brothers would cheer me on as I competed for our Majlis.

Up until now it was nothing; the main event was now the National Ijtema competition. There, in the center of it all you could sense the intense brotherhood that would uplift you; with your blood rushing through your body, heart beating faster and faster, and the support for this NY boy that would grow greater and greater as other atfal from Los Angeles, Detroit, Houston and Chicago would enter the Ijtema Gah (site) all ready to take home 1st Place for all competitions. While competing, we would always support each other; and when someone from our Majlis won, it felt as if we won personally. This spirit of healthy competition and renewed brotherhood is what continues the drive to be the best.

20 years later, little has changed. Although my brothers and I are no longer atfal, we still come together to excel in goodness. The same atfal that would compete so intensely are now serving Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya USA across the board. We’ve come together as one - whether from the east, west, north, or south, and strive to give the future of MKA the same love and brotherhood built upon in those many years.

I wish that no one ever missed out on such a remarkable experience. From the educational to the athletic matches, there is a competitive fire and robust brotherhood shared at the National Ijtema that remains unmatched, and simply cannot be found anywhere else.

Wassalam,

Zeshan Hamid
