1. This year’s ijtema is too close to school reopening. Why was this date chosen?
Due to Jalsa Salana being moved to June this year, our options were either to hold the ijtema on the first week of July or the third week of August. All other weekends in between were taken up by other Jamaat events. We thought it would be difficult for people to travel within 13 days of Jalsa Salana therefore August 22nd was finalized.
2. Why do we have tight rules about people leaving the premises?
We have members between the ages of 7 to 40 and it is very difficult to draw the line as to who is ‘old enough’ to go out independently and who is not. We provide secure entrance and exits in order to keep everyone safe.
3. What if I still want to leave the premises for a short while?
We will ask you to have a short form signed by your Qaid or Regional Qaid and then you can leave the premises at your own risks after showing a picture ID
4. Will there be tight security inside the Ijtema area?
No. We have resolved that issue based on your feedback.
5. Will there be some way to enforce quite time for sleep at night? It is disturbing to hear people talk till 3 am.
We will have a discipline team to ensure that sleep time is respected by all.
6. What if I want to stay at an area hotel? Am I allowed?
Yes. For minors under age 18, the parental permission form must give explicit permission for you to stay off site at a hotel.
7. What mechanism we have to prevent lost items?
While we do our best to educate and enforce guidelines, it is impossible to meet everyone’s needs at such a large gathering. We strongly encourage you to not bring your valuables and if you must, then take care of your important items (e.g. cell phone, blackberry, cash etc) as Ijtema staff cannot be held responsible for your loss.
8. Can you please add more American food?
Yes, this year we will.
9. Bathroom facilities were less as per the need. What is being done to fix that?
We will be renting high quality portable toilets to double the capacity.
10. Will there be Pizza or ice cream for us to buy onsite?
Yes, we are working on that.
11. Why can’t we hold a Tabligh event at Ijtema? This year, we will be holding a large scale Tabligh event on Saturday evening where guests will be invited form the town. More details will be made available soon.
12. What of I have to leave early on Saturday night or Sunday morning? Will I be allowed?
Yes.
13. Where can I get more information on Travel subsidy?
Please contact your Local Qaid and/or Regional Qaid for more info.
14. Tickets are very expensive, what can I do to find a good fare?
We recommend that you book your flight before JULY 30th to get the best rate.
