HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania — Speaking to thousands of Ahmadi Muslims spanning multiple races and nationalities, His Holiness, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, delivered his Friday sermon with an emphasis on race relations in America. Ten thousand American Muslims are expected to converge in Harrisburg this weekend (June 20-22), as His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad presides over the 60th Annual Convention of the US branch.

His Holiness elucidated the importance of sincere efforts of all races to truly rectify racial divisions that may still exist in America.  Specifically, he quoted the farewell address of Prophet Muhammad in which he enjoined that “all men were equal and no race or creed had any superiority over another”.  To the African American Muslims in particular His Holiness observed, “If you consider that you are being discriminated against, even then you should not think that you are less than anyone. If you have a connection with Allah, the Holy Prophet, the Promised Messiah and Khilafat, then no force on this earth can diminish you and no worldly power can take this station from you.”
Prior to delivering the Friday Sermon, His Holiness performed the traditional flag hoisting ceremony to officially inaugurate this 60th USA Convention.  After delivering his sermon, His Holiness lead Friday prayers in congregation.  Subsequently, His Holiness graciously shook the hands of the thousands of American Ahmadi Muslims whom attended the convention.  A photo session with all children whom had formally dedicated their lives to serve Islam and humanity followed.  His Holiness concluded the day’s activities by performing the traditional “Amen Ceremony” for those children whom had accomplished their first complete recitation of the Holy Qur’an.  After leading evening prayers, His Holiness retired to his quarters.
The opening sessions on Saturday June 21, 2008 will begin promptly at 10am EST.
