Volunteer on the Atfal Team!
The Atfal Team

The 61st Jalsa Salana USA in 2009 marked the inception of organized duties for the Atfal.  Atfal from around the country diligently participated in all tasks assigned to them.  The duties ranged from registering and welcoming the participants, to guarding the Flag, to the ever demanding Rapid Response Team.  With one hundred twenty five registered volunteers, Atfal could be seen working in almost every aspect of the Jalsa.

Participants of the Jalsa were greeted by the Atfal at the entrance, eagerly scanning the badges of all who entered the Main Hall.  Then they were again touched by the hard work of the Atfal, who brought them water during the sessions.  Split into pairs, the Atfal showed great team effort as one would hold the cups and his partner would pour the water.  Some pairs were able to distribute over eight jugs of water in fifteen minutes or less.  While scanning badges and giving water might be considered fun duties, the Atfal also took part in some difficult duties.

For the bulk of the Jalsa, the Atfal fully participated in the rigorous duty of guarding the Flag.  At almost any given time two to six Atfal could be seen guarding the flag and a few sitting on the sidelines eagerly awaiting their chance to relieve their fellow Atfal.

Through these and other duties, the next wave of hardworking Khuddam are being readied.

Jazakallah to all our volunteers!
