Soup Kitchen

December Soup Kitchen Initiative

In many ways, America is the land of plenty. But for 1 in 6 Americans, hunger is an everyday reality that is even harder to bear during the holiday season. Many people believe that the problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain areas of the country, or certain neighborhoods, but the reality is much different. These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days.

With little over sixty chapters MKA USA fed 54,976 people across America last year. This December, MKA USA’s focus is Soup kitchens. All chapters will deploy their dedicated volunteers to feed the hungry during the holiday season. In addition to providing volunteer MKA USA also delivers non-perishable items, cooked, and uncooked food to soup kitchens. Volunteers of MKA USA serve the food to people who come to soup kitchen. According to the volunteers who have served at the soup kitchens, this is of the most satisfying and heart touching experience. It allows them to come face to face with the people they are helping by experiencing their situation.

"O son of Adam, I asked you for food but you did not feed Me. He will say: My Lord, how could I feed Thee when Thou art the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Didn't you know that a certain servant of Mine asked you for food but you did not feed him, and were you not aware that if you had fed him you would have found him by My side?” -Sahih Muslim, 1172
