Want to spend a week, month, or few months changing the world? Instead of getting a job, consider committing to a waqf-e-aardhi.
It may sound a bit cheesy, but committing to a waqf is a very practical way to make a tangible difference for the jamaat (and ultimately the world) and to promote your personal spiritual development. The benefits of your sacrifices will be immense - probably considerably more fulfilling than a short-term job. Projects will be defined and structured, and will range from tabligh to aitmad to religious education to public relations to video-making. You will have a project mentor/ overseer to guide and help you. You can also spend time at a jamaat away from home to invite Jamaat members to increase participation of congregational prayers and help with the local jamaat administration. The possibilities are many. Sound exciting and appealing enough?
If so, apply! (send an initial email to waqf.e.aardhi@gmail.com) Candidates should be responsible and have a desire to serve the jamaat and mankind. Although you won't know what project you will be assigned, your sacrifice of committing to waqf will bethe most important factor from which will undoubtedly benefit.
One last thing: while necessary transportation costs associated with your waqf and residence will be provided for, your waqf will not be complete unless you take care of your own food arrangements. Yes, you may need to obtain ingredients for and prepare your own PB & J sandwiches, but this will enrich your experience further, inshAllah
