A Note from the Editor, Summer 2007
Assalamo Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,
Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon you.
It’s been a busy 3rd Quarter! Not just for us, but the entire Majlis; and we’ve got a lot to share with you. As you read through this issue, you too can become a part of this monumental period of history for MKA USA and we couldn’t be happier about it. Let me briefly share with you the latest from our department, and a few things that are taking place systemwide in the MKA USA network.
Online: Since our website overhaul in January, we’ve hit an all-time high with the amount of traffic on www.mkausa.org, the official website of the Majlis, and hope the traffic continues to grow. New to Khuddam and Atfal this year has been a revamped, open-access website with instant access to information and documents relevant to you. Our online National Ijtema Portal was a huge success, offering an array of services including event registration, venue information, personalized driving directions, educational and athletic competition syllabi, rules and regulations, a completed and detailed program, and frequently updated statistics of our registration by region. In addition, during the National Ijtema, news reports and photos of the day’s event were posted as they happened – another first for us! Systemwide, all of our departments are constantly adding news and information so be sure to check back frequently. Coming up, we hope to make the site even easier to navigate and appealing, including fixes to our homepage. Have a suggestion? Our team loves hearing your feedback. Just click the “Submit an Idea” button on our homepage and let us know what’s on your mind.
Mail: At first, it’s a “so what?” kind of thing; but for us it’s another big step in getting information to you– direct electronic communication. (A complex way of saying, e-mail). In June, we were able to start sending e-mails out to each individual khadim or tifil that we have an address on-file for. As part of our awareness campaign for the National Ijtema, you may have received a personal note from members of the National Ijtema Team. We hope utilizing this new tool proves helpful in getting you the latest from our Majlis; instead of relying on a tier-system of communication. This way, there’s less of a chance that you’ll be left out of the loop.
So what about our print mailings? Well, something else we’re trying out this time around is sending our quarterly magazine (yes, this very one!) to you using a new address database. Many of you asked us over the last 6 months, “Where’s my copy?” With so many variables involved in print mailing, we’re working hard in resolving the issue. How can you help? Drop us a line at

Finally, I want to tell you about another big project we’re working on – The 1st MKA USA Yearbook. As we progress through a historic period of change, we feel its important to document our progression for the generations to come. This is without a doubt one of our largest print-projects to date and our team is always looking for new members; whether you’re into news reporting, graphic design, or anything in-between. Let us know your interests and let’s see how you can become part of our staff.
