Attacks Violate Muslim Tenants

Al Qaeda claimed responsibility of killing nearly 60 worshippers assembled at the Lady of Salvation Church in Iraq (“Scores dead in bombings aimed at Iraqi civilians,” Nov. 3). Al Qaeda can not justify this barbaric act in the name of Islam, as the Quran orders Muslims to fight to protect all places of worship, including churches. Those who committed this crime cannot be true followers of the Prophet Muhammad, who mandated full protection for Christians from any act of aggression by Muslims.

As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, I strongly condemn these attacks and express my most sincere condolences to the victims’ families.
