A Muslims View
By: Sufyan Farooqi
An Al-Qaeda operative has murdered nearly 60 worshippers assembled at the Our Lady of Salvation Church in Iraq. While Al-Qaeda claims to have acted in the name of Islam, the Qur’an (5:33) states that killing of one innocent person is like killing all of humanity. The Quran also specifically orders Muslims to fight to protect churches (22:40-41).
As a 'Muslim Who believes in the Messiah' (Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community) I strongly condemn these attacks, call for the perpetrators to be effectively dealt with, and offer my deepest condolences to the families of the victims. And as a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I strongly support our veterans and all those currently serving our country in the military. There are so many things that makes America a great country, of them that America protects its citizens regardless of their faith or background -a luxury we largely owe to those in uniform.
It is my religious duty to be loyal to my country. So on this Veterans Day I thank our veterans and soldiers serving around the world for their great sacrifices and service. Thank You and may God Almighty keep you in his protection.
