Appreciative
By: Hibbi Iqbal

I love this country and I honor those men and women of the Armed Forces as we celebrate Veterans Day. Oh yeah, and I am a Muslim. There seems to be a misconception amongst some that a Muslim should not show loyalty to America despite being privy to all that it offers. As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I can tell you that there is no conflict between my faith and my country. In fact, loyalty and service to my nation is a core part of Islam.

This Veterans Day, I would like to express my gratitude to the men and women who served and continue to serve this nation. These people are the ones who allow me the freedom to practice and share my faith with no fear of consequence. I hope those who take for granted the sacrifices these individuals make realize how good they have it.
