Speaking at a rally on Veterans Day, a Tennessee state representative, Rick Womick, claimed he wanted to purge all Muslims from the military.
Instead of honoring the sacrifice of members of the military, he tried to invalidate their love for their country because of their religion.
To the contrary of what Womick, a Republican, and others may believe, Islam ties religion to one’s homeland. Prophet Muhammad said, “Love of your homeland is a part of faith.” Womick should re-evaluate his stance and stop preaching hate for fellow Americans.
To make things clear for Womick and others in doubt: I, as a Muslim American, honor the sacrifices of those men and women who have served in the armed forces, regardless of religion.
