Mindless Violence

In a despicable show of hatred, Al-Qaeda struck about a hundred worshippers at our Lady of Salvation Church in Iraq yesterday and killed nearly sixty. As a Muslim-American belonging to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I unequivocally condemn the act of terror. And so does my holy book the Quran, which tells Muslims to actually protect churches and synagogues (22:40-41). And so would have the Prophet Muhammad, who insisted that a Christian delegation offer their prayers at his mosque in Medina. Recently, worshippers from my Ahmadiyya Community were also massacred at the hands of militants merely because we refuse to condone their perversion of Islam. Instead, our prayers go out to the victims of the mindless violence and their families.
