Sharing With The Neighbors
By: Sohaib Awan

As a Muslim-American, I have always found the lively feel of Christmas to be fascinating. But I have also felt that this was a Christian holiday, so the most I could do was to observe from a distance. From the Quran, surprisingly, I found that the holiday season serves as an opportunity to develop love from my neighbors by sharing my view of Jesus. The Quran states, “The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, [as one] honored in this world and in the next.” While I do not celebrate Christmas itself, I will be able to follow Jesus’ command to “love thy neighbor as thyself.”

So this holiday season, I will be joining in the celebration by sharing my shared love of Jesus Christ with my neighbors.
