Muslims, Too, Take Part In The Season
By: Usama Khan

Every year, my high-school classmates ask me if I celebrate Christmas. The answer is, “No, I don’t celebrate Christmas, because I am a Muslim.”

I do not, however, feel as though I shouldn’t take part in the joy of the season.

Over winter break, I intend to volunteer at a food bank and participate in a clothing donation. Christmas might not be a holiday that I celebrate, but I might brighten up someone else’s season.

Just because I am a Muslim does not mean I cannot participate in the gift-giving, joy and love of the season. To do so is only human.
