On Feb. 23, the FBI prevented Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, a student from Saudi Arabia, from attacking various locations in America, including former President George W. Bush’s North Dallas home (“Bomb-plot suspect is charged,” Associated Press article, Feb. 26 Dispatch). When I heard this news, a sadness came over me regarding the false picture of Islam that people such as Aldawsari perpetuate.

As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA youth auxiliary, I feel that Muslim-Americans must condemn such intolerant behavior.

A Muslim must obey and be loyal to the government, regardless of the ruler’s faith: “O ye who believe, obey Allah and obey the Prophet and obey those in authority from among you” (Quran 4:60).

Since we have benefited from this country’s freedoms, we are duty-bound to repay the government with our loyalty
