Stereotyping Let's  Terrorists Win
By: Nasir Ahmad

Recently, I felt for a moment that 9/11 terrorists won. Let me explain why. My 5-year-old son is going to Pakistan for the first time to see his grandparents. When I asked him, "Did you say goodbye to your friends in school?" He replied, "I did but my friends asked why you are going to Pakistan? Those people are bad." I was stunned to hear it. How did 5-year-old kindergartners learn this? CNN or their parents? The latter seems more plausible.

Let us not teach our children to stereotype an entire nation or a faith due to perverted beliefs and bad deeds of a rogue minority. Let us not create a divide among our children based on faith or country of origin. Let us teach our children love, and not allow the terrorists to win.
