Extend Olive Branch

Toward the end of President Barack Obama's speech Thursday, he boldly affirmed that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can only be resolved by each side accepting the basic right of each other to exist.

Now is the time for Muslim-Palestinians to follow Prophet Muhammad's example. He took unprecedented steps to secure peace between Muslims and Jews, including the Charter of Medina. This groundbreaking document established the rights of Jewish people to sovereignty and freedom to practice their religion without restriction.
Palestinians would gain a lot by following in Prophet Muhammad's footsteps, extending an olive branch to their Israeli neighbors, paving the way for statehood and peace.
