Memorial Day And All It Means
By: Nasir Ahmad

I am a member of Ahmadiyya Muslim community and a proud American. I thank our forefathers who wrote the United StatesConstitution and the freedoms it guarantees, which allow us - and all Americans - to practice our faith without any fear of persecution.

I also thank all the servicemen and women who have sacrificed their lives so that I continue to enjoy complete religious freedom, a liberty not afforded even in many Muslim countries.

As a Muslim American, I am grateful for our servicemen's and women's willingness to sacrifice their lives to uphold this American value. On this Memorial Day, whether you go to the beach or attend a barbecue, please do remember to honor those who gave their lives to defend our freedom.

Also, I urge all my fellow Americans to continue to show support for our troops and pray for their safe return from Iraq and Afghanistan.
