Muslims in Pakistan threatened to attack a church, blaming Christians for burning the Quran. Police broke up the mob. In response to these accusations, Pakistani Christians released a statement saying they would never commit such a crime, that “All Christians respect all the prophets, holy books and scriptures.”
While these Muslims arbitrarily accused the Christians in “defense” of their faith, the response of Christians when Islam is criticized is quite different. On April 29, Pastor Terry Jones organized an anti-Islam rally. In response, over 600 protesters, including scores of Christians, condemned Jones’ actions. Similarly, during the Egyptian revolution, it was Coptic Christians who stood guard, forming a human barrier so Muslims could offer their prayers without fear of Hosni Mubarak’s regime attacking.
Contradicting these Pakistani Muslims’ behavior, the Quran says, “Surely, the Believers, and the Jews, and the Christians and those of other paths — whichever party believes in God and the Last Day and does good deeds — shall have their reward ... .”
Perhaps such Muslims could learn about Islam through the actions of Christians.
