Extremists Represent Global Danger To All

Friday, May 28th will forever remained etched in bloody history of bigoted Taliban Attacks. 80+ members of the peace loving Ahmadiyya Muslim Community were mercilessly butchered by Pakistani Taliban in Lahore, Pakistan while offering the customary Friday prayers.

While most Americans may see this is as another Taliban attack far away from home, it struck a chord with me personally. Several people I knew died in this tragedy including my cousin's father in law.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, whose logo is Love for All, Hatred for none has been subject to several cruel attacks but none of this magnitude. Its 4 million-odd members have seen their religious rights in overwhelmingly Muslim Pakistan curtailed by law.

Muslims cannot stay silent any more. Islam is a beautiful religion and these extremists have hijacked our faith. Do they not read the Holy Quran which says "whosoever killed a person …it shall be as if he had killed all mankind" (5:33) or, "And create not disorder in the earth" (7:57).

Whether it's a failed bomb attack in New York or a brutal massacre in Lahore, we are under assault from extremist elements such as Pakistani Taliban. We are in this together.
