What Libyans Should Do Now

With change in Tripoli imminent, the interim government must rid Libya of tyranny by creating a society based on equality, justice, liberty and freedom -- a society based on Islamic principles.
The Quran (11:85) states: "Give full measure and weight in justice and reduce not the things that are due to the people, and do not create disorder in the land, causing corruption." Prophet Muhammad's example is also telling. For example, he drafted the Charter of Medina, which granted religious freedom to non-Muslims, including Jews and Christians.

As a Muslim-American, I believe that these principles of freedom, many of which America embodies, are essential to shaping a prosperous and fair society.
The Libyan people should take all measures necessary to prevent another Col. Moammar Gadhafi by laying the foundation for a free, fair and democratic society.
