Last February, Ahmadi Muslims in Indonesia were murdered by a mob of a 1,000 rioters, as police watched. Despite clear video evidence of the murders, very few jail sentences have been given -- and light sentences, at that.
The lack of justice isn't just frightening for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, but for the Indonesian community at large. If extremists get away with heinous crimes, then they are more likely to continue those crimes in the future. The punishments, then, don't stop them from their crimes, but actually continue to foster these crimes.
The Indonesian government needs to give justice to the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, if they wish to promote a stable society.
