“Apology opens door to peaceful resolution”

Dear Editor:

I am a Muslim who has lived in Atlanta for more than nine years. I strongly condemn the taking of innocent life and the burning of effigies of the reverend Christian leader Pope Benedict XVI ("Muslims unsoothed by pope's apology," News, Sept. 19).

We should respect the beliefs of others and resolve our differences peacefully. Hate begets hate. Now that the pope has apologized, we should move on.

Sincerely,

Qamar Ahmad

Duluth, Georgia
