Quran-Burning Plan Sows Hatred

As a member of the the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I am proud to participate in the Muslims for Peace campaign, designed to foster love and brotherhood among all Americans. I applaud such efforts, no matter who the organizer.

The Rev. Terry Jones' "Burn a Quran" day on 9-11's ninth anniversary is designed to counteract such efforts. His plans also contradict Jesus Christ's teachings. Religious differences, while prominent, are no reason to avoid striving for solidarity and brotherhood.

I hope and pray that the Rev. Jones understands the true teaching of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) and the sensitivity of this issue. I urge him and his congregation to make a wise decision and help humanity as Jesus taught (Matthew 5:39), which was for his followers to show kindness and promote peace.
