The Importance of the Ijtema Fund
The Ijtema Fund is used to fund the National Ijtema. Our Majlis (Regular or Khuddam or Atfal) Fund is distributed between local, national and London, but all of the Ijtema Fund is kept at the national level for the National Ijtema. In the past our Ijtema Fund collection has been lower than the actual expense, mostly because members don’t focus on their distribution of the Chanda they pay. Members are encouraged to pay their share of Ijtema Fund in the beginning of the year—certainly before the National Ijtema—so we can use this collection to fund the National Ijtema.
Another reason to focus on the Ijtema Fund is that timely collection of this fund is a large part of the Alm-e-Ainamee calculation from the Finance department. So it’s important to both pay Ijtema Fund and pay it before the National Ijtema.
Talk to your Qaid or local Nazim Maal to make sure you have paid your Ijtema Fund. The rate for Ijtema Fund is $6/year for Atfal; $12/year for non-earning (students) Khuddam; 1% of monthly income/year for earning members. Find more information on the rates of Chanda on the Rates and Calculator page.
