The objectives of Majlis Sultan-ul-Qalam, USA are two-fold: (1) to respond rapidly to media coverage of Islam through letters and editorials and (2) to respond systematically to critics of Islam through scholarly rejoinders. The group endeavors to defend the honor and sanctity of Islam by waging a "jihad of the pen."

As if there weren't enough endangered species already, some seek to add God to the list. In 1999, Pakistan and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) introduced an anti-blasphemy measure to the U.N. that "stresses the need to effectively combat defamation of all religions and incitement to religious hatred, against Islam and Muslims in particular." Consecutive U.N. sessions in 2007 and 2008 approved Resolution 62/145, appropriately dubbed the "anti-blasphemy law."

Mujeeb Ijaz and Amjad Mahmod Khan appeared at Hudson Institute's Center for Religious Freedom and lectured on Pakistan's Anti-Blasphemy Laws: The Case of the Ahmadiyya Community on October 7th, 2009. On October 8th, they testified before a Congressional Panel supporting a non-binding resolution introduced in the House of Representatives to restore religious freedom in Pakistan.
