Message from Chairman, Muslim Writers Guild of America

alt

Dear Muslim Writers Guild of America:
 السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Prophet Muhammad (saw) prophesied that the advent of Masih al-Maud would mark the end of physical jihad (Bukhari). We all stand witness to the fact that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian (as) did indeed fulfill this prophecy. Hazrat Ahmad (as) also indicated that his Jamaat must participate in this noble task:

"God has willed that in this age the pen should replace the sword and the enemy should be vanquished by the written word . . . (you should) certainly realise that the need of the time is not of the sword but of the pen"
(Malfoozat, Vol. I, pp. 59-60)

In the spirit of fulfilling this noble task the Muslim Writers Guild of America has set the following annual goals:

  1. Personally work with each member to polish their writing on a monthly basis. I promise to you today that anyone who commits to this process will, Inshallah, become an eloquent and articulate writer within one year's time.
  2. Encourage each Muslim Writers Guild of America member to publish at least a letter to the editor (if not an op-ed) once a month in the defense of Islam and Prophet Muhammad (saw).
  3. Maintain a regularly updated grammar & writing style section on the Muslim Writers Guild of America web page for members benefit.
  4. Work towards becoming the premier writers guild in the English language dedicated to defending the honor of Islam and Prophet Muhammad (saw).

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II, Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad (ra), once told the story of the actions of Hazrat Talha (ra) during the Battle of Uhud. At one point during the battle Hazrat Talha (ra) saw that the enemy arrows all pointed at the blessed face of Prophet Muhammad (saw). To protect Prophet Muhammad (saw), Hazrat Talha (ra) stretched out his hand. Arrow after arrow pierced through Hazrat Talha's hand, yet it did not drop and was left a stump. During Hazrat Ali's (ra) Khilafat, an enemy mocked Hazrat Talha (ra) because he had no hand. A friend of Hazrat Talha (ra) replied, "Handless, yes, but do you know where he lost his hand? At the Battle of Uhud, in which he raised his hand to shield the Prophet's face from the enemy's arrows." Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) reminded the Jamaat that today the Jamaat is that hand of Hazrat Talha (ra), assigned the duty of warding off any and every attack directed at Prophet Muhammad (saw) and Islam.

This task is the task which Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) alone can lay claim to faithfully completing. This task is the task of that Jamaat prophesied (Qur'an 62:4) to come in the Latter Days - the Jamaat that would mirror the First Jamaat (Tirmidhi). This task is ours and ours alone.
