Brother Hussein Abdul Aziz was born in Philadelphia in Jan 22, 1937 and raised as a Baptist. He was not satisfied with these ideologies, though, and states that was “disturbed by a great lack of peace”. Hussein Sahib, thus, was in search of “Peace and God”. In 1960, his search led him to accepting Ahmadiyyat Islam, being just 23 years old. He has 2 sons, 1 daughter and 6 grand children.
When asked what inspired him to convert to Islam, Hussein Abdul Aziz Sahib's response is “The study of the Holy Quran and Life of Master Prophet Rasoolullah SA”. Brother Hussein Sahib's spirit was driven in devotion and dedication to Allah and Rasooli Kareem through practicing the teachings of the Holy Quran and conveying it’s message. He further elaborates that he found the Creator through the teachings of the Promised Messiah AS.
He is one of the elite members of the legendary group of converts including (late) Br. Munir Hamid Sb, (late) Dr. Muzaffar A. Zafr Sb., and (late) Br. Muhammad Sadiq Sb.
He has served as the president of Philadelphia Jama'at in 70's and 80's, and he is still working as a Majlis-e-Amila member of both Jama'at and Ansarullah of Philadelphia. He was part of a historic trip to Rabwah in 1975 in which he fondly recalls both a visit to the home of Sir Chaudhry Muhammad Zafrullah Khan’s as well as a private meeting with Khalifatul Masih, who sought him out due to his having learned a good amount of Urdu on his visit to Rabwah.
Even in his advanced age, Hussein Abdul Aziz Sahib has tremendous physical and mental strength, which he still employs towards working for the spiritual revolution of the true message of God.
He is known for his vast religious as well as worldly knowledge, which he generously shares with others - especially his knowledge of Christianity and the Bible. US Missionary Maulana Ina'amul Haq Kauser Sahib proudly acknowledges Hussein Abdul Aziz Sahib as his Bible teacher. Hussein Sahib credits the leadership and scholarship of Khalifat-ul Masih II Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad RA as being a great inspiration of his.
Hussein Sahib has also been gifted with a very humble, soft and cool nature and is always responsive to others. As an example of his cooperation, commitment and dedication, it should be noted that just a few years back, the Philadelphia Jama'at initiated a scheme to feed needy people, sponsored by local churches and authorities which took place nearly every week. This entailed from four to five hours of rigorous work in arranging a full meal and dine-in service for more than 250 people. This dear brother of ours is noted as the only person who never missed each one of these sessions to assist in serving the needy.
His motto in life is to convey the message of Ahmadiyyat, The True Islam, to all of mankind.
Brother Hussein Abdul Aziz is for us a great teacher, mentor, and pioneer in the truest meanings of these words. May Allah grant him ultimate success in this world and the next.
