Jalsa Salana UK 2009
Before embarking on my trip to Jalsa Salana Uk, I remember thinking to myself that this trip would be different. And it was. I met Huzur and seeing him this time was a very different experience even though I have met him before as well. It felt a little more uplifting than the last few times and I felt more of a connection. This was my first individual Mulaqat with Huzur, and my most powerful meeting. There are very few men that someone meets in their lifetime that carry such a presence. It can become overwhelming with all kinds of emotion and feelings.
It was a great experience to be at the Jalsa site, to walk around and meet the people who were there from so many different places. The best part for me was meeting some non-muslims and talking to them about what they had heard and what we both thought about the Jalsa.
England itself has a feeling of realness and a sense of grandeur. I was very surprised, while standing in Heathrow airport, to see how many Muslims travelled in and out of the country. Such a mix of people in one place gave me a sense of comfort being away from home and at that time.
This trip has made me want to come back next year to UK Jalsa with my family because I feel a little more of a spiritual connection at this Jalsa and I am glad that I was given the opportunity to attend.
