QRC 2009 Travel Guidelines

PLANNING FOR YOUR ARRIVAL

Where is the conference taking place?
The QRC/ARC of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya USA will take place at Baitul Hameed Mosque, located just outside of Los Angeles, on November 13-15, 2009. The mosque address is: 11941 Ramona Avenue, Chino, CA 91710.

Where will I be staying?
All attendees will sleep overnight at the mosque.

What do I need to bring?
You should bring a pillow/sleeping bag or other bedding, shower towel, personal clothing items, prayer cap, and MKA scarf. Don't forget that cellphone or laptop charger. 

What kind of clothes should I pack?
The weather in Southern California is very mild this time of the year with warm days and cool nights. The forecast during the weekend calls for an average high of 75° going down to 45°overnight. We'll be indoors for most sessions, and outdoors for meals so pack a mix of lighter clothes with just a light jacket or sweatshirt for the evening.

It is difficult to bring toiletries in my carry-on luggage, can these be provided?
Yes, we will provide you with soap, shower gels, shampoo, shaving cream, and toothpaste.


TRAVELING TO LOS ANGELES

Who is picking me up from the airport?
Our Transportation Team will contact you by Wednesday, Nov. 11th with specific details about who is picking you up. Rest assured that our friendly and knowledgeable staff will take excellent care of you upon your arrival in Los Angeles. 

Where do I go after I arrive?
Pick up your luggage (if you checked anything in) and then proceed to the outside curb from baggage claim. Look for us wearing our MKA scarves and we'll be looking for you.

What do I do if my travel plans have changed due to a missed connection or delayed flight?
Please call our Nazim Transportation, Nauman Mubasher at: (909) 800-6834. Attendees arriving by air should store this number in their cellphones just in case.

BOOKING YOUR TICKET
The Los Angeles Metro area has several airports for participants to choose from for those who need to fly in for the event (see below for the list of airports we will be providing pick-up/drop-off services). Depending on your city of origin, fares will vary, so please check your options before booking. You will find that EVERY major US airline services at least one of the airports in the area. Please note that traffic in the LA Metro Area is highly unpredictable; hence we have included additional commute time to/from our area airports for your consideration.

Participants are more than welcome to bring their families to Los Angeles, and we would love to host them. Several local families have offered their homes with open arms to host families while you attend the QARC proceedings. Keep in mind that you are expected to arrive and stay on-site from 8AM Saturday 11/14 through 2PM Sunday 11/15.

Baitul Hameed Mosque offers Friday Jummah Service starting at 1PM. The local hosting majalis are also planning a beach site seeing tour and barbeque on Friday 11/13, so participants should feel welcome to arrive into Los Angeles a few days early (or stay a few days later).

(Flights departing from ONT on 11/15 must leave after 3PM)

John Wayne / Orange County Airport (SNA)
35 miles / 40 mins - 1hr 20 mins to Baitul Hameed Mosque
(Flights departing from SNA must leave after 4PM on Sunday.)

Long Beach Airport (LGB)
40 miles / 50 mins - 1hr 30 mins to Baitul Hameed Mosque
(Flights departing from LGB must leave after 4PM on Sunday.)

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
50 miles / 1hr 15 mins - 2 hrs 45 mins to Baitul Hameed Mosque
(Flights departing from LAX must leave after 4PM on Sunday.)
