On Thursday, November 25, Detroit Jama'at started their morning at the downtown Detroit Annual Thanksgiving Parade distributing flyers for the "Muslims For Peace" campaign. The parade is among Detroit's longest-running and most attended traditions. More than 30 jama’at members participated in this program. It ended successfully at 1:00PM with about 5,000 flyers being handed out. May Allah bless all of those who arranged and participated. Many thanks and praise to Murabbi sahib for his support, leadership and participation. By the grace of Allah it was a great opportunity of sacrifice in bitter cold weather. This was a great display of Detroit khuddam and Tabligh Departments working hand in hand in this continuous effort of flyer distribution.
Although this was the second time that the flyers were distributed by the Detroit jamaat, the first being to the subdivisions around Masjid Mahmood, this was the first time that the flyer were distributed on a mass scale in Detroit. Many khuddam were nervous about how they would approach giving out flyers and what the response would be, as the atmosphere/perception of the parade was that people only came to enjoy the parade and would not want to be bothered. Khuddam were paired off and asked to cover a portion of the parade. Some khuddam had no hesitation in going up to people and handing them flyers and the positive reception from those individuals built the confidence of other khuddam. Those khuddam with hesitation quickly learned that people were accepting of the flyer and those that did not want it, kindly declined. Many khuddam were thanked for taking the time to come out to the parade and distributing our message of peace. It was realized
that our duty as Muslims was to distribute our message of peace whether people accept it or not as only good could come from it.
