The Rising Star for the month of January 2012 is Zane Chowdhry of Portland Majlis.

MashAllah he is an active 13 year old tifl in the 7th grade. Whether it is when he is in the mosque or in his school, Zane is a Rising Star and a model for his Atfal brothers. In his local Majlis, Zane is the secretary for both Ishaat (publications) and Khidmat-e-Khalq (service to humanity). Zane actively participates in Ijtemas when he can and has contributed to Al-Hilal as well. In school Zane is an excellent student, a part of the EXCEL program, a member of the student council and participates in after school activities such as band and drama. In his free time, Zane likes to play tennis, video games and enjoys acting. When he grows up, Zane aspires to become a pediatrician. Zane’s character is best described by local Nazim Atfal Portland who mentioned that "Zane is a bright Tifl, willing to take on new challenges, and seeks to help others when he can." Local Qaid of the Portland Majlis echoed this sentiment by also adding "Zane is a sharp young man who is devoted to the Jamaat. He is always very helpful at mosque events and speaks his mind eloquently when called upon. He will InshaAllah be a great asset to the Jamaat when he grows up." May Allah enable this young tifl to continue to strive for excellence and continue to be a model for all. May Zane reach all his dreams and aspirations as he works towards them during his life as well. InshAllah. Ameen.
