Shahzeb Kahlon of the Houston-North Majlis is the Rising Star for the month of March. Shahzeb, age 9, is in the third grade. He’s an avid learner, an honor-roll student and loves mathematics. He enjoys playing various sports, from football and baseball with his siblings to video games such as Madden ’10. He has won many awards for sportsmanship and received eight awards at the most recent local Ijtema. Shahzeb has aspirations to become a pediatrician, Insha’Allah. Khalid Bhatti (local Nazim Atfal) remarks, “Shahzeb is always present and never says ‘No’ when asked to help out. He is keenly aware of the feelings of other Atfal around him and goes out of his way to socialize with a Tifl who doesn’t seem to have many friends.” According to Yameen Khalil (local Qaid), “Shahzeb always comes to the mosque with a smile and embodies what it means to be a Tifl.”
