Rashad Khan - March 2010

RashadKhanMarch 2010 - Rashad Khan
LA Inland Empire
This month’s rising star is thirteen year-old Rashad Khan, son of Majid Khan Sahib, from the Los Angeles Inland Empire Majlis. This aspiring tifil is an excellent example for us all to be the best we can in all of our endeavors.

Rashad Khan is currently an 8th grader at Grace Yokely Middle school, a place where he is able to expand both his physical and mental capabilities. During the class recesses, Rashad competes with his peers in friendly matches of basketball and baseball. In the classroom, Rashad likes to learn more about math. Rashad enjoys math because of its logic and how it is like a language of numbers. This thought process translates into Rashad’s career interest as an engineer. As an engineer, Rashad relishes on creating new inventions for humanity, and has hopes for creating less wasteful cars using solar energy, Insh’Allah. Besides the opportunities available to Rashad in the classroom setting, Rashad spends much of his time in the library. Rashad is an avid reader and learner, and Alhumdoliah these skills are seen in his ability to maintain high grades in his honor classes.
Rashad is also an active member in his jamaat. He treats his Sunday class with utmost importance, and respects his teachers because of their ability to make the class exciting and engaging. Rashid is also known to help out his elders who have difficulties during the Friday Prayers. Rashad is an active participant in regional and national Ijtemas. Rashad not only attends all regional Ijtemas and goes to a few national Ijtemas, but also competes in all the activities whenever he can. Rashad enjoys competing in sports, nazams, speeches, and in reciting the Holy Quran. Rashad’s favorite speech that he has given is on the topic of obedience towards parents. Rashad says, “The Holy Prophet (peace and blessing of God be upon him) tells us that paradise lies underneath the feet of one’s mother. We really need to pay attention to this because our parents do a lot of stuff for us so we need to be grateful to them.” Besides thoughtful speeches, Rashad is keen in learning the Holy Quran and hopes to be a Hafiz, Insh’Allah. He enjoys his Hifzul Quran class, where he learns proper pronunciation in reciting the Holy Quran; Rashad is currently trying to memorize the last chapter of the Holy Quran.
The endurance and hard work seen in Rashad causes him to drive forward for great goals. Alhumdolilah. Rashad tells us his motto is to never give up, try your best, and to ask for prayers from your elders and the people around you. May Allah continue bless this astute tifl, and may Allah allow us to be hard workers as well in all our endeavors, Ameen.
