Objective:Department of Sami-o-Basri is also known as department of Audio/Video. Our focus is on encouraging members of MKA USA to produce their own videos showing what is happening at a local level, and share on MKA TV. The department will also communicate National Activities via videos
This year, the Department of Sami-o-Basri will continue its focus on using video to communicate activities and best practices happening at a local and national level. Our role is to educate members of MKA USA on the power of using video to communicate, and also provide mentorship and training as needed. We are not here to edit your videos for you.

Department Objectives:
Below are our department's top objectives for this year. We request all Qaideen to immediately begin showing the MKA Monthly podcast in your monthly meeting
LINK TV MUSLIM FILM COMPETITION
One of the KCC initiatives undertaken by MKA USA was the Adopt-a-Highway program, where Khuddam nationwide adopted and cleaned up local roads in their neighborhoods.
A 28 minute inspirational documentary about this initiative was created with footage filmed from all over the US by local Khuddam. A DVD of this video has been given to your Qaid, so if you haven't watched it by now, please ask him to show it in the monthly meeting.
We edited a 5 minute version, and entered it into a Muslim Film competition sponsored by LinkTV. Because finalists were decided by online public voting, we began a grass roots campaign to get out the vote. All over the country, members of MKA encouraged their friends and family to participate by watching and voting. Voting was limited to less then two weeks, so there was an immediate need to act! With over 100 videos in the competition, the odds seemed to be against us. All we could we do was pray, and do our part to get the word out. So how did we end up doing?
In the final round, judges will determine which videos will ultimately win the main prize. But even if we don't win the cash prize, we're already winners! Hundreds (if not thousands) of Ahmadi's and Non-Ahmadi's have watched our video, and even more will do so once the video is aired on LinkTV, a satellite channel that is broadcast by Direct TV and Dish Network.
Jazakalla for voting!
At the end of round 1, our video was:
