Sami-o-Basri

From the Constitution:
The department of Sami-o-Basri will explore the talents of Khuddam and Atfal and provide individuals capable of producing quality programs. 
 It will promote MTA International and Alislam.org amongst the youth.  It shall encourage Khuddam and Atfal to watch and be involved in the production of programs.

Video Contest - Enter and Win
Make a 3 minute short video on Ijtema


The Department of Sami-o-Basri is initiating a video contest to showcase your talents!  With local and regional ijtema's right around the corner and the national ijtema a few months away, the subject of the contest is The Ijtema.  You can make videos about your local or regional ijtema or our premier national event.  Be creative, use humor, get your point across, all while being respectful.  You can shoot the video with your phone or video camera, just make the quality good enough so it can be shown on YouTube.  We're not expecting professional quality but use the tips in "How to Make a Video" to help you.  For the winners there will be prizes and recoginition at the national Ijtema.  Contest rules are below. 

Some idea's on subject matter:
What's special about YOUR regional ijtema
Why is the ijtema important to you
Your journey to the ijtema in years past
Any thing else you can think of related to the Ijtema

Contest Rules
Submissions will be accepted from April 1, 2010 to July 1, 2010. 

Videos cannot be longer than 3 minutes

Videos will be judged by panel of judges

Criteria used for judging:
   Originality in content and quality
   Effectiveness of conveying your message
   Technical skills (steady camera, edited well, good lighting, good sound, etc)

Don't include music (it just distracts from the message)

 Local Majalis are strongly encourged to create their own 1-5 minute videos to be shared on MKA TV.  Examples include:

- Film members of your Majlis doing waqar-e-aml
- Document your local hiking, sports, camping trip
- Interview members of your Jamaat on how career success tips

Majalis that did a great job in 2008 include Austin, Portland, Silver Springs, New York, Philadelphia and East Region.

Every monthly meeting should include a monthly podcast.   

Produce and upload at least one video.

 Produce Your Own Video

Choose an idea that interests you.  It can be anything.  From a tour of your town or city, to a local baseball game attended by khuddam, or an event at the masjid.  Let the rest of the country know what is going on in your area.  If you need help or ideas on how to produce a video, contact your local nazim or email National Mohtamim, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
