Presided by: Moulana Zafar Sarwar sahib.
At the Regional MKA Ijtema Mahmood Ahmed Sahib from Chicago gave a presentation on Career choices.
He beautifully gave the analogy of Passion, job and Profession. He explained that young khuddam usually make mistakes by following their passion only. For example you are 5'-6" in height and you like basketball and you want to make a job out of it, that is a remote possibility since average height in NBA is 6'+. He said if you just follow the passion and don't consider the job part then you will be soon go broke and will not be able to support yourself. If you combine your profession, passion and job it becomes a career. A career where you want to grow.
Addressing young khuddam he gave special emphasis on choosing Missionary as a profession. He said spreading words of God is a profession of Prophets; then why not consider this profession as well? Specifically Waqfe Nau children should consider this career to serve humanity and Islam.
Before we select a profession we need to look at the market trends and needs as well. We see the economy is slowing down and there will be few jobs in manufacturing and engineering related fields. Health sciences always have a bigger scope and have a humanity service involved as well.
When the world is coming closer with technology there will be more need of professional with multi languages. So we should learn more languages and consider the international jobs.
At the end a question answer session was held and he answered the questions asked by Khuddam and Atfal.
Mahmood sahib gave the same presentation to Waqfe Nau children in Canada Baitul Islam this year in April. That is why Pervaiz Khan sb (Sec Waqfe Nau Detroit) requested him to join our Ijtema and present the same.
There were 18 Atfal and 24 khuddam present at the presentation.
