From the Constitution:
The Muhtamim Sanat-o-Tijarat shall initiate programs to increase interest in learning skills, crafts, and trades among the members. He shall strive to teach Khuddam various industry skills. He shall continue to try to eliminate unemployment in society.

URBAN GREEN BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM


The Sanat-o-Tijarat Department is proud to announce the rollout of the Urban Green Beautification Program.  Through this Green Program we will be presenting Inner City Youth the opportunity to learn about the spirit of entrepreneurialship and economics, all the while developing a work ethic, and learning the importance of developing healthy eating and living habits.  The goal is to go into and develop gardens in the Inner Cities across America, and sell the harvests at Farmers Markets, with the youth earning a wage from their hard work and dedication.  For more info, please contact the S-o-T Department directly at sot@mkausa.org .

This service will help callers with a broad range of needs, and who will connect callers with the right community-based resources. By working together and helping each other, we can make it through these very difficult times.

There will be one award for Khuddam this year:

1.       Majlis of the year: At the end of the year, the National SoT department will award the “Majlis of the Year” award to the most active Majlis. In order to be a nominee for this prestigious award, you must participate in the Mentor Program. Other criterion include adding contacts to the Resource Directory, and holding Job/Career Workshops. The winning Majlis will be presented with their award at QRC 2011.

 



If you or anyone you know is interested in having a booth at the career fair, please let us know. The career fair is open to employers of all backgrounds, academic institutions, and volunteer organizations. Email: sot@mkausa.org 

The career fair will take place at the National Jalsa to bring employers closer to our Jamaat. Please bring your questions and resumes to the career fair.

Activity Goal Notes
Increase participation in the Mentor Program  2 new participants per small Majalis
3 new participants per medium Majalis
5 new participants per large Majalis 
The new participants can be either Mentors, or those needing help.  If your Jamaat has any new members from other countries, or has a Jail/Prison ministry, please add extra focus to these Brothers to make sure that they are acclimated and are able to find, and maintain work.  Follow-up is and important part of the Mentor Program
Compile unemployment data Unemployment info from 100% of Majalis' Unemployment data is to be collected based upon Khadim that are of a working age, and not in school.
Help unemployed Brothers gain employment 250 Brothers helped Nationally Help includes any assistance given from the application of a job through a Brother being hired.
Host Seminar/Workshops and Job/Career Fairs For General Society  1 Workshop per small Majalis, 2 Workshops per medium Majalis, and 3 per large Majalis Seminars/Workshops should be specific to a certain job or type of job,and are more educational, while the Job/Career fairs should include multiple job and career options.
