Musleh Maud Tournament Summary by Sohail Malik

By the Grace of Allah, we held our third annual Musleh Maud Basketball tournament in Maryland on December 24th 2011. This unique 4 on 4 half court tournament is designed to have brothers from all jamaats get an opportunity to play on the same teams. This year's participants came from New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Virginia and Maryland. This Musleh Maud tournament is a nice change of pace from the Masroor International Sports Tournament. Since MIST is international and such a huge event, this Musleh Maud tournament is a relaxing laid back fun way for brothers in the U.S to get to know each other. Players were randomly put on 10 teams and this years competition was probably the best we have ever had. A lot of good players along with a lot of new faces came to this event. Players had a great time overall and true brotherhood was reflected in their interaction with each other. After each team played three preliminary games, then an exciting single elimination playoff round took place. In the end the team that accomplished winning this tournament consisted of players from Maryland, New York, Willingboro, and Virginia. Inshallah we hope to continue holding this event and grow it over the years in order to strengthen the bond of brotherhood among Khuddam.

East Cost Musleh Maud Tournament 2010

Like the past two years, we held our 2010 annual East Coast 4 0n 4 Musleh Maud basketball tournament. This year's venue however was changed to the City of Brotherly love Philadelphia. The Musleh Maud tournament is set up in a unique way where teams are not assembled ahead of time and brought to the tournament and you do not come to this tournament to represent your local jamaat. Your there to represent Jamaat Ahmaddiyya as a whole. Teams are assembled at the day of the tournament on site and you gain an opportunity to play on the same team with Khuddam from other jamaats. As some Khuddam refer to it as the laid back, fun, getting to know others tournament, it gives an opportunity to promote brotherhood amongst the members of Khuddamul Ahmaddiyya. This years tournament had close to 50 participants and mashallah all of the teams competed very strongly with one team surpassing them all the end. This team consisted of members from Maryland, Philadelphia, and Virginia. A three point shootout was also held in addition to the 4 0n 4 games which was won by Usman Jamil from the Capital Metro region.  Inshallah by the grace of Allah we plan to continue holding this type of event in order promote sports, competition, remembrance of Allah, socialization and brotherhood.
