MIST 2010 FAQ

 Frequently Asked Questions:

General Questions:

-- Will travel subsidy be given this year?  There will not be a travel subsidy provided this year.  Please work with your local and regional Qaideen if you feel that cost will be a factor in you being able to attend.

--
Are we allowing teams to bring one non-ahmadi guest?  If so, what are the requirements?  Yes, you may bring one tabligh contact guest along with you.  The requirements are outlined in the flyer attached below and must be adhered to 100% for the guest to be allowed entry.  Please contact the organizers with any questions.Download Guest Form

-- Is there a registration fee, if so, what does it cover?  Team cost for Soccer and Basketball is $300 per team per sport. This will cover a variety of things: jerseys, accomodations, transportation, food, and site rentals.  International, Midwest and West Coast teams are exempt from this fee due to the travel costs they incur. Only teams from these regions are required to pay the team fees: East, Capital Metro, Head Quarters, NY Metro and Northeast.

-- What is required for me to be able to play?  First and foremost you must abide by the principles of Jama'at.  Ensure that you are regular in your prayers and current with your MKA Khuddam and Ijtema Dues.

-- Can I pick players from another Region? No.

-- Will transportation and accomodation be provided throughout the tournament? Yes.  All transportation and accomodation will be arranged by the HQ Region.  Sleeping arrangements will be made at Masjid Bait-ur-Rehman so please bring the appropriate items with you (sleeping bags, prayer cap, slippers, etc.).

-- Can ansar play? Yes.  As long as they are from within your local or regional area.

Sports Questions:

-- I am a USA team captain, how come I can’t register my team?  This year all team submission is all through online forms. We have also only given Local and Regional Qaids access to these forms. Please submit your team roster info to your local Qaid if it is a Local team or if you have a Regional team submit it to your Regional Qaid for submission.

-- Can I make a Regional Team?  Yes, with Regional Qaid approval.  Regional Qaid is the only one that can register a regional team.  Works the same way with a local team.

-- How do I register a Soccer team? Soccer teams work the same way as a Regional basketball team.  Since soccer is very limited and highly competitive there are fewer slots available.  Therefore, we are limiting to only Regional teams that must be registered through the Regional Qaid.

--
How will the basketball tournament play be divided?
This year we will have two divisions (Domestic Bracket and International Bracket).  The purpose of this is to align each team with other teams that are equally matched.  For instance, a team from a U.S Majlis will not have to play against an MKA USA team but rather compete against similar local or regional teams.  The tournament organizers feel this is the best way to ensure equal and fair play for all those who participate.

Both leagues will be treated equally in terms of game play and awards will be distinct for the two brackets.

-- Can I play both basketball and soccer? Yes.  If your team is playing in both sports be sure to let the organizers know well in advance as there will be some scheduling challenges we would need to work through.

-- Will there be referees for all games? Yes.  We will have proper referees for both preliminary games and playoffs for both divisions.

-- Will brackets be posted online?  And how are the formulated? Brackets will be posted a week after the registration deadline of March 1st.  They are compiled by the organization committee based on perfomances in prior tournaments.

--
Who can enter the Domestic Bracket? Teams from local majalis' or regional teams from the United States.  Some International teams may be placed into the domestic bracket in certain instances.

--
How do I get consideration for the MKA USA International Teams?
The international teams is consisted of players from around the country that want to play in the international bracket.  These players will not be able to play in the Domestic League if they are selected onto one of the MKA USA teams.

If you would like to submit your name for consideration for the MKA USA team please email Kashif Chaudry at kashifseven@yahoo.com.  The tournament organizers will evenly split up teams evenly based on position and level of play for each individual.

You can also enter the International Bracket if you feel you have a strong regional team.  In this case, please let the organizers know that you would like to enter your team into the International Bracket rather than Domestic.
